Anhua Dark Tea

Anhua Dark Tea is one of the ancient famous Chinese tea. It is mainly sold to the frontier areas and primarily the minorities living in the northwest China. Therefore the tea is called "frontier tea". It including Qianliang tea, Fu tea, Tianjian tea and so on. And Qianliang tea is recognized as excellent tea. Qianliang tea got its name because the net weight of every volume tea is one thousand liang according to the old scale. The tea absorbs the air and essence of the sun and the moon. The sunshine and the dew are the key of the tea quality.

Origin: Baishaxi of Auhua County in Hunan Province





Recognizing:

Color: The high quality of Anhua Dark tea is black and shiny while the bad quality of Anhua Dark tea is red, brown, dark and with other kinds of colors.

Tea soup: the liquid of high quality of Anhua Dark tea is bright with luster, resistant to infusions, while that of poor quality of Auhua Dark tea is turbid and with impurities, nonresistant to infusions.

Taste: High-quality has the strengths of pure aroma, mellow taste and the fragrance of pine smoke while the inferior is astringent with bitter or other taste.


Tea ceremony

Brewing method: Pure drinking or mixed drinking.

Water teamperature: boiling water.

Brewing tea: tea moistening is necessary.

Tea sets: purple clay teapot and tureen is most suitable.



Quality and Harvest of Anhua Dark Tea

Anhua dark tea is characterized with black and brown brick face, corpulent "germinating flower", and great aroma. The bacteria flower smells thick and lasting fragrance. The taste is pure and thick while the liquid is red yellow and bright. Two aspects on harvest need our attention : certain ripeness and freshness.


An historical story of Anhua dark tea

When Emperor Kaostu was pacifying the country, he asked Lu Jia to be ambassador to get touch with Pou Fu. Then Lu Jia hurried to Yiyang of South China. He could not get used to the soil and water there and got ill because of hot weather. Then an old man took out a handle of curl, iron-colored Anhua dark tea from his bag, and brewed it with hot water, and then he asked Lu Jia to drink the liquid. After a while, Lu Jia really recovered. So Lu Jia built a pavilion and named it River-facing Pavilion.
