Tie Kwan-yin, also known as Red Heart Kwan-yin and Hongyang Kwan-yin, is one of the top 10 kinds of tea in China. Anxi Tie Kwan-yin wins the greatest fame, and it is divided into thick fragrant, lingering-fragrant and thin-fragrant types, each being top Oolong tea. Beside the common health function, Tie Kwan-yin also has the anti-aging, anti-cancer, and anti-atherosclerosis effects, and leads to weight loss.
High-quality Tie Kwan-yin is like a dragonfly head with green pedicle and abdomen. It looks fresh and moist. It is tighter than common tea and with a heavy body. When you put a small amount of tea into the teapot, you will hear a crisp sound. the liquid is golden, clear and cystal. Tie Ceremony
Water temperature: boiling water of 100℃.
Tea sets: tureen is preferred.
Infusion times: 3 to 5 infusions of Tie Kwan-yin is ok. The Tie Kwan-yin of fine quality has some fragrance after 6 or 7 infusions
"Famous tea is hidden in famous mountain". According to Anxi County Annals, the production of Anxi tea began in the late Tang Dynasty, thrived between Ming and Qing, and is flourished nowadys. It already has a history of over 1000 years. The unique natural conditions of Anxi are very suitable for the delicate tea of Tie Kwan-yin.
Around the year of 1720, a farmer call Weiyin of Songyan village in Anxi Yaoyang, was a diligent in planting tea. What's more, he was a devout buddhist. Every morning and night, he would put a cup of tea in front of the statue of guanyin ( a buddism godness) to worship. One night, he dreamed that he found a tea tree which was opulent and fragrant in the crevice between stones. The next day, he followed the road and direction in the dream and he really found the tea tree with oval lush green leaves and tender purple buds. Weiyin dag out the tea tree and planted in his house. He named it " Tie Guanyin"
